How to Merge PDF Files — Step by Step

  1. 1
    Upload your PDF files

Click the upload area or drag multiple PDFs onto it. You can add up to 10 files, each up to 150 MB.

  2. 2
    Set the page order

Drag the file tiles to arrange them in the sequence you want. The file at the top becomes the first section of the merged PDF.

  3. 3
    Click Merge PDF and download

Processing takes 10–30 seconds. Download the combined file and scroll through it to confirm the page order is correct.

Combining PDF Files: Tips for a Clean Result

Getting the page order right before you click merge saves time. Plan the logical sequence first — for a job application that is typically cover letter, CV, then certificates. For a legal packet it is usually the main agreement followed by schedules and the signature page. Numbering source files before uploading (e.g., 01-cover.pdf, 02-resume.pdf) makes ordering straightforward.

Merging combines files exactly as they are: no re-encoding, no quality change. However, if one source PDF is password-protected, remove the password first using Unlock PDF. If the merged result is too large to email or upload, run it through Compress PDF as a follow-up step.

After merging, if the page order is still not right you can fix it without starting over — upload the merged file to Organize PDF to reorder or delete individual pages. Adding page numbers is also best done after merging, not before, so the numbering runs continuously across the full document. Read the complete merge PDF guide for more tips.
